Oakland University is pleased to welcome new and returning graduate students. Whether you are just beginning your journey as a master’s degree student or ready to defend your dissertation as a Ph.D. student, Financial Aid and Scholarships is here to help you navigate the cost of college. Use the information below as a checklist of things to do to prepare for your school year. If you need help along the way, we’re always here for you!

  • Get help completing your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Regardless if you’ve completed a FAFSA before, it’s ok to need some help! We’re here to provide you with assistance as you complete your FAFSA. Join a virtual workshop to get help.
  • Learn more about federal financial aid eligibility.
    Graduate students are eligible for federal unsubsidized student loans and may be able to apply for Graduate PLUS loans. Oakland University may also offer financial aid opportunities related to graduate assistantships or fellowships found on the navigation menu to the left.
  • Get help understanding your OU Financial Aid Offer
    You’re not expected to be a financial aid expert, that’s why you have us! Participate in a virtual workshop to get help understanding your financial aid offer from OU or speak to an adviser for one on one assistance.
  • Use the Graduate Tuition charts to calculate your cost. 
    Oakland University charges your eBill for tuition and on-campus housing and food charges if applicable. Simply multiply the number of credits for which you're enrolled in a semester by the appropriate per credit hour rate to determine your billed amount for tuition. 
  • Complete these steps to confirm and receive your financial aid
    Consider this your checklist within a checklist, all the steps you need to take to prepare for your first through last semester at OU. Find instructions for reviewing your financial aid offer, financial aid requirements, preparing your eBill authorized users and text alerts, enrolling in direct deposit, and more.
